Hiya !!

For those of you who couldn’t make it down, here’s some pics from last couple of weeks gigging.

Saturday:

You can’t beat a good wedding… Beautiful bride, proud mothers and fathers, comical speeches, fantastic food, plenty of Love and as always, great music !

Myself and Andy played an upbeat 2 hour duo gig at an old mill in Surrey. It was a perfect day, beautiful weather and everyone seemed to love the music… I can’t think of any better way to spend a Saturday, I will have some footage for you soon… The first dance was an interesting one… Damien Rice – Blowers Daughter! Anyway, everyone was thrilled and we ended up doing another 30 minutes over our allotted time and we were offered a free bar. Sparkling water all round, not a drop of alcohol passed my lips ! oh, and Blackpool won.. Mission Accomplished, perfect day!

Sunday:

I am honored to have played a part in the LSO & RCM music festival that was hosted right next to the Tower of London after the sunday picnic. Granted, the majority of the music was classical/opera which is truly awe inspiring, even though I couldn’t understand it because it was all in Italian… Anyway, I played a short 20 minute set of new tunes (with a couple of covers thrown in) and did an unexpected cover of ‘Barcelona’ by Freddie and Montserrat CaballĂ©. The average age of attendees was over 40 so the response was extra special when I got a standing ovation at the end of the set… The first one ever… Amazing !

Tuesday:

Prohibition St Katherines Dock is always an amazing gig and I’ve been playing there solo pretty much every Tuesday for the last 6 months or so. This tuesday was a particular treat as it was rammo because the weather was absolutely glorious. Unfortunately, you can’t see it in this picture, but there are a load of boats and yachts in the dock just to the right. When the weather is nice you could easily mistake this little hidden gem as being in Monaco… Darling !

Wednesday:

Well, it’s not eveyday you can say you’ve played a gig in one of the most prestigous landmarks in the whole country…

Following on from a number of really cool gigs in the area, I was invited to play on Tower Bridge in the heart of Londons city for a ‘Heaven and Hell’ themed night. Little did I realise, that the gig was actually up on the top of the bridge walkways, the same place the apprentice finalists had been only one year previous.

This was an amazing show and a totally unique experience. There were jugglers, fire eaters, harpists, them random statues who stay still for ages then scare the crap out of you when they move… allsorts of radom lighting and other technology laden wonders in order to keep in check with the whole heaven and hell theme of the whole evening. Much fun had by all, tremendous night and tremendous party… I’m sure there were afew rough heads the morning after !

Saturday:

This is the Living Room in Regent Street (W1). Andy and I have been playing duo gigs here for afew years on a prime time saturday. It’s always a great atmosphere down here and is surrounded by some of the hottest places in town, The Ice Bar (just behind the camera), Strwaberry moons (Cheesey Pop & Cheap drinks means this place is always packed) and Soho literally across the road.

We usually play an hour and a half set which gives us a massive amount of freedom with respect to what we can play.. Some new stuff, some old stuff and loads of covers rangin from Kings of Leon, The Killers and Coldplay to The Who, The Beatles and Pink Floyd…. With some 90’s classics thrown in for good measure.

The David Bowie album below was shot at the same venue we are playing at (The Living room straight ahead). It looks slightly different now but it used to be a post office back in the day and you can tell it’s the same building…. Some would say we’ve walked in Bowies shoes, some would say we’re just a ‘Space Oddity’ (sorry)

Thanks for taking the time to read this post and please feel free to head down to a gig at some point in the future, they are all listed here on the gigs page

Cheers

Glen

So…. we’ve been working ultra hard behind the scenes to bring you all the latest on the build up to the album launch. It’s coming along swimmingly and hopefully, should be done by Novemeber once we finish the mixing, packaging, contractual B-S, PR and all the other boring stuff that comes with making a record. One thing I’m not good at is waiting.. I just want to give all this exciting new free stuff to you but I’m not allowed… yet … Good things to those who wait, patience and virtues and all that blah blah blah… I Seriously can’t wait for you to hear it, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Be on the look out in the next couple of weeks for some ‘leaked’ stuff that isn’t supposed to be given out until the launch date ”wink wink”.

Anyways..

As my thank you for sticking around, signing up for your free copy of the album (go do it if you haven’t, it’s over to the right) and even just for popping by and saying ‘Hi’, I wanted to give you a sh.. shed load of free music.

On the music page http://www.glenkirkham.com/music I’ve put up the last few projects and E.Ps I’ve released and you can go check out everything for free !! This is a random selection of 3 years of my musical life right there so I hope you enjoy some of the transitions through writing styles etc (I was categorically told a flat out NO when I asked my web guy if I could upload everything… Servers, crashing, mainframe, trojans & virus’… pfft! )

With some sort of psychic ability and an eye to see the future, let me assure you that ‘See You Next Tuesday’s’ vibe is NOT going to come from a random mashup of all of this music you hear on the music page. I’m not saying we have recycled any of this stuff, this was all a training ground for me, but I wanted to assure you there’ll be a bit of funk, bit of pop, bit of electro weirdness ala ’she walks’, some killer riffs and some really resonant songs to get your ass and your brain moving, the likes of which you have never heard before.. Well from me anyway.

I think there’s like 20 tracks or so, be my guest and go check it out. I will add, that all of the music on the music page (barre one song) was actually recorded in my front room over the last few years, hence, it’s not amazing quality.. It’s a hell of a lot of fun to make though… I’m sure my neighbours agree too !

I hope you have as much fun listening to all this as I had making it *cheesey shudder* – And, I’ve just been sent some interviews I did in west London last week about the new album so I will put them up for you as soon as.

Cheers for checking in

Glen

P.S. If you want to get in touch with me I would would very much like to hear from you… If I get enough emails, I might create a little message board for all your blasts of consciousness… hit me up here info@glenkirkham.com

P.P.S. My web guy’s in Portugal at the moment so excuse the wonkiness and general downturn of the site, it’s all very unaligned (real word?) and I’ll get it fixed when he get’s back… The main thing is the music should all work.

P.P.P.S. If you haven’t signed up for your exclusively super free album yet, WHAT ARE YOU DOING ??? Get on it, sign up to the right and I will send you a free copy when it’s done. I’m only giving away 500 copies and then everyone else will have to pay for it… A fiver maybe ? I guess it all depends on what HMV want to sell it for… Anyway, I digress, get your free copy or you’ll be kicking yourself later…. I may even sign it for you, even though you can’t sign MP3’s …… Glen shut up….. Enjoy the music :-)

Welcome

I’ve just got back from an unbelievable 3 day seminar in Earls Court covering all sorts of enlightening topics which I found fascinating. Quantum Physics, Marketing and communication…. Basically as far away from sex, drugs and rock and roll as you can get… variety, spice, life and all that.

Anyway, without going all new age self help on you, I did get introduced to a really interesting principle about the power of our thoughts and energy…. Stick with me here.

A Japanese scientist named Dr. Masaru Emoto has spent his entire career studying water.

One of his experiments really resonated with me and I think is truly fascinating.

  1. Emoto got numerous containers, all identical in size and volume and filled them with identical quantities of water.
  2. Emoto then wrote emotive words onto pieces of paper, ‘I love you’ ‘Thank you’ ‘I hate you’ etc and taped them to the side of different containers. He also spoke the word at the container effectively focusing a particular emotive energy charge onto the water in each container.
  3. The next step was freezing the water to below -500 degrees centigrade
  4. By slowly increasing the temperature from -500, small crystals form on the surface of the ice as it began to transform back into water.

Check out what happened to the different energy focused on the different containers….. No other external factors are in play here, this is literally emotion and water.

I had to post this video for you, it’s truly mesmerizing:
